The Arizona Legislature should pass the bill because insufficient funding for the appellate system would interfere with the resolution of business disputes in the state.
The proposed budget for fiscal year 2015 under consideration by the Arizona Legislature lacked the funds that the two divisions of the Court of Appeals required to cover increased employer costs (e.g., health/dental, retirement contributions, etc.). Without an increase, the court would not be able to avoid furloughs or personnel reductions. The result would be a slowdown in case processing, principally civil litigation.
The Arizona Legislature passed the bill to increase funding for the Arizona Court of Appeals.
